Meet Kathryn

Kathryn Tarner is a New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with a TSSLD extension who has dedicated most of her 15+ year career to supporting infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and the people who care for them. She specializes in early communication, language development, neuro-developmental differences, pediatric feeding disorders, and play-based learning interventions. She believes children learn best through positive, meaningful interactions within their everyday routines.

Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, Kathryn provides individualized, play-based therapy in a child’s natural environment—including their home, daycare or preschool. She partners closely with caregivers and educators to build practical strategies that support communication and feeding throughout daily life, knowing that lasting progress happens when those caring for young children feel confident and competent outside of sessions.

Kathryn’s approach is relationship-centered, neurodiversity-affirming, and grounded in evidence-based practice. Every session is tailored to the child’s strengths, interests, and regulation needs while keeping therapy engaging, fun and functional.

Outside of work, Kathryn enjoys spending time outdoors, listening to music or going to concerts, and cooking and baking for her family and friends. As a Long Island native, she is grateful for the opportunity to support children and families throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
